Cornhill Castle

A Venue Steeped in Storybook Charm

Catherine & Dillon’s wedding was set in the breathtaking Cornhill Castle, a place where every corridor feels like a chapter from a fairytale. The ballroom walls are lined with shelves of books, creating the same magical, romantic atmosphere as the library in Beauty and the Beast. This literary backdrop was the perfect setting for a couple whose vision was rooted in romance, atmosphere, and timeless elegance.

The Inspiration - Wuthering Heights Meets the Scottish Highlands

From our very first consultation, Catherine spoke with passion about her love for classic literature, especially Wuthering Heights. The novel’s sweeping romance and dramatic landscapes became the foundation for their stationery design. We paired this with the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands, creating a mood that was both poetic and powerful.

The colour palette drew from misty heather fields, soft lilac skies, and deep forest greens. This blend of moody and romantic tones set the stage for a suite that felt like a work of art - one that could have been discovered between the pages of an old leather-bound book.

The invitations were printed on luxurious textured card to enhance the painterly quality of the artwork. The main illustration featured a winding path through heather-covered hills, leading towards distant misty mountains, with a regal stag standing watch.

To heighten the sense of storytelling, we designed a deep purple envelope lined with an illustration of the bridge, deep in the heart of the Scottish countryside, where Catherine & Dillon got engaged, a deeply personal detail that guests would only discover when they opened their invitation. This hidden scene transformed the liner from a simple decorative element into a private prologue, adding another chapter to the couple’s love story.

On-the-Day Stationery – A Fairytale in Every Detail

The literary inspiration carried through to their on-the-day pieces, transforming the wedding space into a living novel.

  • Welcome Sign – Standing proudly in front of the castle, the welcome sign echoed the invitation artwork, inviting guests to step into the couple’s romantic Scottish world.

  • Table Plan – Designed as an open book, the left-hand page featured the quote: "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." — a direct nod to Wuthering Heights. The right-hand page listed the guests’ names, arranged as “chapters” instead of table numbers, reinforcing the theme beautifully.

  • Order of Service – Illustrated with the stag motif and printed on tactile card, setting the tone for the ceremony.

  • Bookmark Placecards – A unique keepsake for guests, each personalised with their name and finished with a deep green tassel.

These details worked together to create a truly immersive experience, where guests felt they were not just attending a wedding but stepping into Catherine & Dillon’s own romantic novel.

The Couples Words:

"I’m honestly not sure I have the words to describe just how amazing my stationery was. Debbie & Gail are absolutely fabulous. From our initial appointment, I felt that Debbie understood the concept I was going for, and she absolutely knocked it out of the park. We were blown away by how perfect every piece looked, the communication was great and it was all made so simple, I didn’t need to stress about any of it. I cannot recommend them enough, I’m so grateful and glad that I chose A Little Bit of Loveliness. I think we got more compliments on our stationery than on anything else!!"

My Favourite Moment

For me, the magic came together when I saw the welcome sign and table plan in place at Cornhill Castle. The moody Scottish landscape artwork, paired with the grandeur of the venue, made the entire theme come alive. It was as though the castle itself had become part of the story we had been telling through every design detail.
